Southern Luzon in the Philippines is bracing for significant rainfall as easterly winds bring moist air from the Pacific Ocean. The areas likely to be affected include Quezon, Rizal, Laguna, Aurora, the Bicol Region, Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and northern Palawan. While the rainfall is generally expected to be light to moderate, some locations could experience heavier downpours.
These weather conditions elevate the risk of flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas, especially in Western Visayas, which is forecast to receive the most rain in the Visayas region. Eastern Visayas is also expected to experience cloudy skies, scattered showers, and thunderstorms, which could pose similar risks.
In contrast, Northern Luzon will likely see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rain due to northeasterly winds. Meanwhile, Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and other parts of Calabarzon should expect partly cloudy conditions with isolated showers and localized thunderstorms.
Across Mindanao, the weather is predicted to be generally fair in the morning, with partly cloudy to sunny skies. However, localized thunderstorms may develop during the afternoon and evening, particularly in Northern Mindanao, the Caraga region, and the northern Zamboanga Peninsula.
Residents in areas prone to flooding and landslides are advised to stay informed of weather updates, carry umbrellas, and exercise caution during periods of heavy rain.
