In a remarkable box office achievement, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has emerged as one of the highest-grossing films in its opening weekend, amassing an estimated $927 million globally within just four days. This Marvel Cinematic Universe entry, starring Tom Holland, now ranks as the second-largest global opening ever, surpassed only by Avengers: Endgame, which launched with a record $1.2 billion in 2019.
Domestically, the superhero film brought in $355 million over its opening weekend, narrowly shy of the domestic record set by Avengers: Endgame at $357.1 million. Internationally, Spider-Man: Brand New Day generated $572 million across 66 markets, with China contributing the largest share at $121 million. Following China, the United Kingdom brought in $49 million, Mexico $38.3 million, and South Korea $25 million.
The film also set several opening weekend records in various countries. In India, it achieved the biggest Hollywood opening to date, grossing $31.8 million. France added $26.6 million, Brazil contributed $23.8 million, and Spain’s box office saw $15.6 million, showcasing the widespread appeal of the latest Spider-Man installment.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has significantly outperformed its predecessor, Spider-Man: No Way Home, which garnered $600 million globally upon its release. It also exceeded the debut of Avengers: Infinity War, which opened with $640 million worldwide. The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and is set four years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The narrative follows Peter Parker as he grapples with rebuilding his life after his identity is forgotten by the world, while facing a new mysterious threat with help from some unexpected allies.
