Alex Eala, a prominent tennis player from the Philippines, has achieved a new milestone by reaching a career-high world ranking of No. 18. This accomplishment marks her as the highest-ranked female tennis player from Southeast Asia in history. At 21 years old, Eala has outdone the previous regional record of world No. 19, thanks to an impressive performance during the 2026 season.

This year, Eala has secured two singles titles, enhancing her standing in the tennis world. She triumphed at the Birmingham Open in June and later at the DC Open in August. Her victory in Birmingham was particularly historic, as it made her the first Filipino to win a Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) singles title.

Wimbledon also highlighted Eala’s growing prowess on the court when she advanced to the fourth round. In a notable match, she defeated the defending champion, Iga Swiatek, showcasing her skill and determination.
